Items conducted during one week stay


1.Lagoon Clean Up

 At worst lagoon area in London, 150m length area was cleaned up by two high school students. The length determined by the length of arms of 150 students. The campaign message, AM M'ANGE E BONGANA IBUKIM; TAI BAKATAEIA, MANGA-KABONGANA (to separate is to make the material, but to mix up is to increase the waste) was appealed. Waste from the lagoon was collected and uploaded by the types of waste. After the work, equipments used were given to the schools for their voluntary future activities.

20cm3 of coconut leaf 5 ton, 24 m3 of coconut shell of 6 cargo of 2 ton truck, 30kg aluminum cans of 15 bags, 40 kg bottles of 4 bags, 90kg plastic of 60 bags, 50kg steels of 10 bags
■Equipments used
240 pairs of cotton gloves, 240 bags, 6 wheel barrows, 12 shovels and 6 folding baskets


2.Environment education by using picture cards show【Data-Picture Card Show
 We emphasized the relation of issues of waste and global warming and important ness of the recycle system and appealed the impact of the dumped waste on island to create the bad affect on ground, lends water, creature in the sea and the human body by using the picture cards show has the simple drawing and easy understandable scenario as a tool. In terms of the recycle system, as the introduction, we demonstrated to melt cans into ingot and set up wire mesh baskets.

3.Lectures of recycle system to be maintained locally
(1)Demonstration to melt cans into ingot
 We made the demonstration to make it in a simple way at schools and communities. And we were conveying the message the cans should be recycled and sold in the different manner rather than dumping any where else. We showed the real aluminum products sold in Japanese commercial market and impressed the vale of aluminum in the world market. We are proposing to high schools students to design the aluminum products.
about 4cm3 aluminum ingot is made from only 3 cans

(2)Set up the mesh wire baskets at 5 schools
 5 mesh wire baskets, size is 2m x 2m x 2m = 8m3, were set up at 5 schools (2 primary schools, one junior high school and 2 high schools) as the key station to gather cans and explained how to use them and its purpose. After the measurement done by school committees and students, cans will be exchanged into cash, 10 cans per 5 Australian cents for 3 years, until November 2006 and the money will be used for the school equipments purpose only.
